Presence is the greatest gift you can give yourself and those around you

Presence is the greatest gift you can give yourself and those around you. When you take your focus inside, you realise you already have it.....yes buying gifts for others is fun & kind but it should not be stressful and living  beyond your means financially is just the ego, you don't have to buy expensive gifts to make someone happy, how about spending quality time with them instead.

True love is when you are happy, your family & friends are happy, and if you have presence happiness will shine from you like the lights of a Christmas tree.

This time of year it easy to neglect ourselves and our yoga practise, making excuses,  we don't have time or eating an abundance of foods we know are no good for us....because it's ok, I can go on a diet in January, but if you have presence you will only fuel your body with food that makes you feel alive, the odd little naughty treat will not be as harmful if you are mindful about it, everything in moderation because January should not be used as an excuse to abuse your body and mind with excessive food & drink. As Iyengar tells us “Your body is a temple, keep it pure and clean for the soul to reside in.”

The meaning of Christmas for me is love & being with the ones you love the most, it is also a brilliant time to spread that karma yoga, be aware of those who do not have as much as you, or maybe going through a hard time. Karma yoga is the act of selfless service, that path of action it’s doing something for someone else at no gain to yourself, it is said to be the highest of all yogic paths, so shine your light to others that may be in darkness this Christmas, act from the heart.

A magical moment for me this Christmas is seeing all the presents from my YogaBears for local children, our YogaBears at such a young age learning the art of detachment and giving, not attaching to material things, to bring a little happiness to a child that may not be as lucky as them, it was a beautiful humbling, magical thing to see, it truly touched my heart, we are creating such special little souls in our YogaBears family.

All I wish for you this Christmas is Peace & Love, spend time on your mat at home, we all need a little movement each day and home practice is a beautiful gift to give yourself, then spend time with your family, love and laughter are all we need.

We have so many exiting plans for our Shakti family in 2015, we thank you all for your love and support over 2014, wishing you a wonderful Christmas and here’s to a fantastic 2015.
